The Deficit

Yesterday I was shopping at the mall, with quite a wad of cash and a mindset to spend it all. But nothing really caught my eye.

As I continued shopping throughout the day, I felt increasingly disillusioned. There is a huge disconnect between high-fashion, European trends and your typical department store. If you look on a website such as thesartorialist.com, you see people trying different things, but looking elegant and unconventional.

Take, for instance, the current trend of women wearing cuffed menswear-inspired pants. The closest thing I could find was Levi's the boyfriend jean. But not many teenagers are willing to shell out that kind of cash. Forever 21 was trying to work the cuff, but just on normal jeans, and the silhouette was off.

I'm hoping to be able to poke around portland soon for something a bit more outgoing, but for now: save your money, and wait to splurge in the spring.
